Dress code

At Fired-Up Dance Academy, we focus on giving our students the best dance instruction and an amazing experience. We strive to cultivate a learning environment that is both supportive and fun for all of our clients. We want our dancers to feel comfortable, confident, and ready to shine, our dress code helps everyone look and feel their best in class.

Tiny Tots & KinderTot

Leotard of choice, pink preferred and pink tights. Please have hair pulled SECURELY off the dancer’s face in a pony tail, bun or half-up/half-down style.

Ballet Classes

Dress Code Strictly enforced! Hair MUST be slicked back in a bun using gel or hairspray. Buns must be well-secured. Hair net strongly recommended. MESSY BUNS ARE UNACCEPTABLE. Please clip bangs back. Short hair must be secured away from the face.

Pink tights for all levels. Pink ballet shoes required. No socks or bare feet. Black, solid leotard.

NO BIKE SHORTS, BAGGY OR BULKY SWEATS, OR SHIRTS. Ballet skirts allowed with instructor permission only.

Jazz Classes

Any colored leotard, jazz pants, snug-fitting dance wear. No baggy shirts or sweats allowed. T-shirts allowed only with instructor approval. Hair must be secured neatly away from the face unless otherwise instructed by teacher. Please do not assume hair can be worn down.

Main-brand, slip-on jazz shoes only. NOTE: dance sneakers are only allowed with teacher approval.

Lyrical/Contemporary

Bootie shorts and barefoot are acceptable. Jazz shoes ok. Hair secured back.

Hip Hop Classes

Hip Hop dancers are allowed to wear their funky styles. No inappropriate logos or sayings are allowed on clothing. Please use discretion. NO JEANS.

MANDATORY: SUPPORTIVE SHOES MUST BE WORN IN CLASS. Please do not wear street shoes to class. Dancers need to have shoes specifically for wear in the studio. Rocks and dirt damage floors.

MALES all levels

Ballet: Black pants or sweat pants, white t-shirt tucked in, socks and black ballet shoes.

Tap: Black pants or sweat pants, t-shirt, oxford tap shoes.

Jazz: Black pants, t-shirt, black ballet shoes or black slip-on jazz shoes.


Jewelry may not be worn at any time while taking dance class.

By controlled class sizes, we allow our teachers to offer students more personalized instruction. We are fortunate to have loving instructors who work to ensure that you learn not only dance technique, but also how to work cooperatively. Each instructor has been specifically selected to teach classes based on their area of expertise and training.
